The Pie Tin

Boyfriend and I suffer from quite a sweet tooth. We keep seeing these pics of this place called The Pie Tin and a while ago, we put it on our mental list of places to make sure we try out.

After lunch and a couple of bevvies in Newtown yesterday, we got the usual after meal craving for something sweet.

Light Bulb! We remembered that The Pie Tin is in Newtown and it happened to be only a couple of streets away from where we were.

On walking in, it has quite a cosy feel to it. There's a big comunal table in the middle and a few two seater tables.

The first display cabinet we walk past is full of all the sweet pies. Straight away my eyes are pulled to the ginormous beast that is the 'Apple Pie that ate Newtown'... I had to have me some of that!
Boyfriend went straight to the Malteser pie and our friends to the Belgian White Choc and Rocky Road and the well loved classic, Sticky Date.

After 5 minutes of being table creeps, a couple seats freed up so we could sit down.

Then our number got called... Ok, so, if we knew the slices of pie were going to be this big there is no way we would have ordered one each!
First to come out is the Apple Pie that ate Newtown. I don't know how to describe how big this slice was. Let's just say it is well enough for two people...
And it is delicious!                   There is SO many layers of apple, perfectly flavoured and each cooked through to perfection. Soft but still firm...   With the addition of a scoop of vanilla ice cream, oh em gee,  take me back!!

After demolishing the apple pie there wasn't much room left for Boyfriends slice of malteser pie. So we took that home for dessert later that night. When we finally had room to eat it, it was gone in minutes! So light and creamy, beautiful chocolate flavour all the way through. The base a nice, rich chocolate with the perfect crunch.

While we were busy eating our apple pie, our friends devoured their Sticky Date and Belgian White Choc. They're thinking this place is the new Go To for birthday cakes! You can grab a whole pie from $39 - $49.

Next time we head there (yes, there will be a next time) I'd definitely try a savoury pie. Everyone around us had them and they smelt SO good. And maybe just one slice of a different sweet pie to share... Or on second thoughts,  maybe one each... you can always get left overs to take away!
